Can buried Landmines remain active after 60 years?

 Unfortunately yes, most kinds of landmines last forever. Every month over 2,000 casualties of civilians who are killed or injured after hostilities have ended. Landmines do not recognize peace treaties or cease fires. Landmines do not discriminate. They do not distinguish between the footfall of a soldier and that of a woman or child gathering firewood.
